The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the elevation of Eight Judicial Officers as Judges of the Delhi High Court, taking the decision at its meeting held on September 10, 2026.
The Collegium cleared the proposals for appointment of the following Judicial Officers to the Delhi High Court:
- Gurvinder Pal Singh
- Nivedita Anil Sharma
- Nisha Sahay Saxena
- Sanjay Sharma-I
- Bharat Parashar
- Dr. (Smt.) Aditi Choudhary
- Dinesh Bhatt
- Arun Bhardwaj
The recommendations represent the Collegium’s assessment for strengthening the Bench of the Delhi High Court through the elevation of experienced members of the subordinate judiciary.
The Collegium’s decision constitutes the recommendation stage in the appointment process. The proposals will now be transmitted to the Union Government for consideration and completion of the prescribed constitutional formalities.
The elevation of Judicial Officers assumes significance in the context of the substantial and diverse litigation docket before the Delhi High Court. Judicial Officers bring with them extensive experience in adjudicating matters at the trial level, including civil and criminal disputes, commercial litigation and other specialised proceedings.
The Collegium’s latest resolution specifically approves the proposals for appointment of all eight officers as Judges of the High Court of Delhi.
Their appointment will become effective upon completion of the remaining formalities and issuance of the requisite notifications by the competent authority.
