The Supreme Court has notified the Advocates-on-Record (AOR) Examination for December 2026, with the examination scheduled to be conducted in New Delhi on December 19, 20, 22 and 23.
The examination notification has been issued by the Registrar (J) and Secretary, Board of Examiners for the AOR Examination, in accordance with Rules 5(i) and 5(ii) of Order IV of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, read with Regulation 2 of the Regulations governing the Advocates-on-Record Examination.
The December examination will be open to candidates eligible to reappear under Regulations 11(i) or 11(ii) of the AOR Examination Regulations. The eligibility also extends to candidates entitled to avail the opportunity arising from the results of the June 2025 AOR Examination.
Candidates are required to submit their duly completed applications before the AOR Examination Cell, located at Room No. 308, Third Floor, B-Block, Administrative Buildings Complex of the Supreme Court, New Delhi. The application window will remain open from October 1 to October 15, 2026, during the prescribed office hours.
The Registry has specified that applications will be received until 5 PM on October 15, after which submissions will not be entertained. Candidates have also been directed to adhere to the prescribed application format and accompanying instructions issued along with the notification.
The examination fee has been fixed at ₹750 and is required to be paid through online mode.
The AOR Examination will comprise four papers covering Practice and Procedure of the Supreme Court, Drafting, Advocacy and Professional Ethics, and Leading Cases. The syllabus for the final paper is to be read with Notice III issued in this regard.
The examination will be conducted exclusively in pen-and-paper mode.
The AOR qualification is a specialised professional credential governing the right to act and file proceedings before the Supreme Court under the applicable rules. The December 2026 examination will therefore provide eligible candidates another opportunity to qualify for registration as Advocates-on-Record in accordance with the prescribed regulatory framework.
