Justice S Vaidyanathan takes oath as Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court

Justice S Vaidyanathan has taken oath as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan on Sunday. State Governor Phagu Chauhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Vaidyanathan.

He succeeds Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee, who superannuated in November last year.

After the retirement of Justice Banerjee, Justice Hamarsan Sing Thangkhiew had been functioning as the acting Chief Justice of the High Court.

The function was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Law Minister Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, Secretariat Administration Department Minister Alexander Laloo Hek, Justice Thangkhiew, Justice Wanlura Diengdoh, Justice Biswadeep Bhattacharjee, Chief Secretary Donald Philips Wahlang and several other officials.
