A Patna court on Monday granted bail to Raushan Anand, Director of Gyan Bindu GS Academy, who was arrested in connection with a case arising out of the recent dispute involving Khan Global Studies, the coaching institute run by educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir.
The case stems from an incident that took place on June 2, when Khan Sir alleged that his coaching institute was attacked and stones were pelted at the premises. He accused Anand of being involved in orchestrating the alleged attack. Based on the complaint, the police registered a criminal case and subsequently arrested Anand on June 3.
Apart from allegations relating to vandalism at the coaching institute, Anand was also accused of involvement in an alleged assault on a security guard. Following registration of the FIR, he was taken into custody and remanded to judicial custody pending investigation. The tutor was lodged in Beur Central Jail and has remained in judicial custody for the past 12 days.
Senior Advocate Ramakant Sharma, appearing for Anand, argued that his client had no role in the alleged incident. He questioned the prosecution’s version and submitted that allegations concerning the conduct of security personnel associated with Khan Sir had not been adequately examined, while action had been initiated against Anand.
While granting bail, the court remarked that both parties were educators and should engage in healthy professional competition rather than becoming involved in criminal disputes. The court reportedly emphasised the need to maintain professional conduct and focus on educational activities.
The controversy took a new turn after CCTV footage relating to the incident surfaced during the investigation. According to reports, footage initially examined by the police allegedly showed a physical altercation but did not reveal any firing. Subsequently, another CCTV clip surfaced on social media allegedly showing security guards opening fire.
Based on the later footage, the police arrested two security guards. During investigation, the guards allegedly stated that they had acted on the instructions of Khan Sir. Following these developments, a separate criminal case was registered against Khan Sir, and the police initiated steps for his arrest.
However, on June 9, a Patna court granted interim protection from arrest to Khan Sir and stayed any coercive action against him. While Khan Sir secured anticipatory relief, Anand remained in custody pending adjudication of his regular bail application.
