The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against 14 accused in connection with the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, placing before the Special NIA Court its findings on the alleged conspiracy and execution of the terror attack.
The explosion took place near the Red Fort on November 10, 2025, in which 11 persons were killed and several others sustained injuries. Following the incident, the NIA assumed charge of the investigation and commenced an extensive probe into the circumstances leading to the blast, the individuals allegedly involved and the larger conspiracy behind it.
The agency’s prosecution case is that the explosion was not an isolated incident but formed part of a wider terror conspiracy. The investigation has allegedly revealed links between the accused and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), described by the agency as an offshoot of Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent.
The NIA has relied upon a substantial volume of evidence gathered during the investigation, including witness statements, documentary material and articles allegedly seized from the accused or locations connected with the probe.
The agency had earlier submitted a detailed chargesheet against 10 accused. It subsequently filed a supplementary chargesheet against additional accused persons, expanding the prosecution case and bringing the total number of chargesheeted accused to 14.
Among those named by the investigating agency is Dr Umer Un Nabi, whom the NIA has alleged to be a key figure in the conspiracy and the person who was allegedly behind the vehicle used in the explosion. Nabi was killed in the blast.
The prosecution has invoked stringent provisions under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, besides offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
According to the NIA, the accused allegedly played different roles in facilitating the conspiracy, including providing logistical assistance, arranging resources and extending other forms of support allegedly required for carrying out the attack.
The chargesheet represents the investigating agency’s version of the events and the evidence collected during the probe. The allegations against the accused will have to be tested during the judicial proceedings, and culpability can be established only upon a finding of guilt by the competent court.
The filing of the chargesheet marks a significant stage in the prosecution arising from the Red Fort blast, as the case now moves further into the adjudicatory process before the Special NIA Court.
