Saurav Das Alleges privacy breach, moves Delhi High Court against media platforms and media commentator Abhijit Iyer-Mitra

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson and activist Saurav Das has approached the Delhi High Court against media commentator Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, media platform The Pamphlet, legal news platform Law Beat, and other social media account. The Jaipur Dialogues and The Sunday Guardian, alleging that they publicly disclosed his residential address and other personal information.

Das has sought Rs 2.01 lakh in damages, alleging violation of his privacy and apprehension of threats to his safety.

In his suit, Das has also sought permanent injunctions restraining the defendants from publishing, circulating or disclosing his residential address or other residential information. He has sought directions for the removal and disabling of public access to videos and social media posts containing the allegedly sensitive details.

The plea also seeks directions to X Corp and Google to take down the allegedly offending content and prevent its further dissemination.

According to Das, he has been residing in a rented ground-floor accommodation in Greater Kailash-I, New Delhi, since early 2025. He alleges that representatives of The Pamphlet trespassed into the shared residential premises, recorded its interiors and subsequently uploaded the footage on X on August 5.

The video allegedly revealed his residential address and has received more than 2.1 million views, according to the suit. Das further alleges that the video was republished on August 10.

The suit also alleges that Iyer-Mitra disclosed Das’ residential address during a programme on Law Beat by identifying his neighbour and incorrectly stating that the monthly rent for the property was approximately Rs 7 lakh.

Das claims that Iyer-Mitra subsequently published multiple social media posts containing the alleged residential information.

He has stated that he lodged a police complaint on August 5 and informed the defendants about the potential security risks arising from disclosure of his address. Despite this, he alleges, the information continued to be published and recirculated.

Das has contended that the repeated disclosure of his residential details, particularly in light of what he describes as his previous exposure to violent threats, has increased the risk of hostile individuals locating his home.

According to the suit, the repeated disclosures, combined with the plaintiff’s history of violent threats, significantly raise the risk of hostile individuals locating his home.

According to Das, continued dissemination of the information also exposes him, his family members and other occupants of the premises to potential intimidation, harassment and physical violence.

The suit seeks judicial protection against further publication and dissemination of the alleged private information, besides damages for the claimed invasion of privacy.
