Supreme Court pays tribute to V.K. Jhanji, A.D.N. Rao, Mukul Gupta and S. Balakrishnan at full court reference

The Supreme Court has convened a full Court Reference to honour the memory of four eminent legal figures Shri V.K. Jhanji, Shri A.D.N. Rao, Shri Mukul Gupta and Shri S. Balakrishnan acknowledging their invaluable service to the legal profession and the institution of justice.

Judges of the Apex court, members of the Bar and relatives of the departed dignitaries attended the solemn proceedings. During the reference, the Court reflected on the professional accomplishments, integrity and dedication demonstrated by each of the legal stalwarts over the course of their distinguished careers.

Shri V.K. Jhanji was remembered for his judicial wisdom and contributions to the judiciary, including his tenure as Acting Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court. Shri A.D.N. Rao was noted for his expertise in constitutional and parliamentary matters, while Shri Mukul Gupta was recognised for his work in significant public law and commercial disputes. Shri S. Balakrishnan was also praised for his commitment to the Bar and his enduring contribution to legal practice before the Supreme Court.

Speakers at the reference observed that the legal fraternity had suffered a profound loss with the passing of the four distinguished members. The proceedings concluded with heartfelt condolences to their families and tributes to the lasting legacy they leave behind in the field of law.
